Frequently Asked Questions About Renewal by Andersen®

If you’ve just started to look into our products and services as a replacement window contractor, we’re sure you have some questions. We thought we’d answer some of the questions that we frequently encounter, and perhaps one or more of your questions are listed here:

Why do your windows have two glass panels?

Traditional windows are fitted with single glass panels. But glass is a naturally conductive material that allows heat transfer, which results in heat loss during winter and heat gain in the summer, increasing your heating and air conditioning requirements. This ultimately results in increased energy consumption and higher energy bills. A dual panel assembly reduces conduction by minimizing contact between interior and exterior surfaces, and enhances window energy efficiency.

What is Fibrex® material?

Fibrex material is an exclusive composite material made of wood fibers and polymer. This unique composite combines the strength and stability of wood with the low-maintenance benefits of vinyl. All Renewal by Andersen replacement window frames are made with Fibrex material. It’s been proven to have excellent insulating properties, a long lifespan and superior resistance to warping and cracking under temperature changes.

How are your windows different from the ones sold in hardware stores?

In addition to using the best materials, we are a window company that builds windows to size. The ones sold in stores are pre-assembled units, and have very limited sizes. Custom-built windows help preserve the integrity of your home, as absolutely no modifications will be made to your home, save some necessary repairs. This also means every window we install is a perfect fit, ensuring an energy-efficient seal around each window.

Where do you leave the old windows after you install the new ones?

Our installation team cares for your home, and takes every measure to make sure your home is clean before, during and after installation. This includes the disposal of your old windows. We will not leave you worrying about what to do with them. In addition to making it more convenient for you, we also want to help the environment by minimizing the parts of your old windows that reach landfills, and recycling everything else.
