Casement Windows and High-Performance Glass Options

Every home has a room that doesn’t get much natural light. For one reason or another, it can be either too small for a large window. For those cramped spaces, the solution is casement windows.

Here’s a look at the options that Renewal by Andersen® can offer.

Glare-Prone Window Design

Because of the angle of the opened sash, it can reflect the sun straight into the house. This can have a piercing effect much like the reflection of car windows in a parking lot. If you live in a very sunny place and want to avoid the sun as much as possible, casements may not work for you. Renewal by Andersen tackles this problem of glare with their high-performance glass options.

High-Performance™ Low-E4® Glass

This is our standard glass package for customers’ replacement window needs. It is a great choice for homes where both cooling and heating costs are a concern. This glass package can block up to 84% of harmful UV rays. It has excellent light transmission and a good solar heat gain coefficient.

High-Performance Low-E4 Sun™ Glass

This glass option is for homes in areas with hot, dry climates with little to no shade. It has our highest rating against solar heat gain. It has a subtle tint coating that reduces glare and excess light. It will keep your home cool and comfortable in the summer. It reflects the majority of solar heat away from your home.

High-Performance Low-E4 SmartSun™ Glass

This is our most energy-efficient glass option. It can block up to 95% of UV rays and cut the amount of solar heat that enters your home. It is perfect for your custom windows if you don’t want your drapes, furniture and artwork to fade. It offers the visible light transmittance of clear glass. At the same time, it provides thermal control just like tinted glass.

Renewal by Andersen of Montana can fit your casement windows with the right glass option. For more information about high-performance glass options, call us at (406) 259-3944 today. We’d love to hear from you!
